9) First section of fence at the Memory Garden, Saturday, October 27th, 9am
Hello everyone,
If you've driven down Carson Drive in the last few days, you may have noticed that the community has put in the fence posts for the first section of fence at the Memory Garden site, that all of the raised beds have now been placed and filled with soil, and (perhaps most excitingly) that the Garden's welcome sign, designed by WLSS students, is now up. It has been making me immensely happy to see the sign each time I drive down the Carson Drive hill and see it, as it represents the incredible power of the individuals, groups and businesses of WL to cooperate and collaborate in service to the whole community! I know it won't be long before the Memory Garden is a buzzing hub of positive activity benefiting the whole community!
The community support to help us come this far has been amazing, and now your next chance to be a part of the process is on Saturday October 27th, from 9 am until around 1.
We warmly invite everyone and anyone to come help out with the work, which will consist of attaching the fence pickets to the fence. Carpentry experience is not necessary, but please note that each volunteer will need a cordless drill, and that the opportunity to contribute will be very limited for those who do not bring a cordless drill.
Also very useful, but not necessary, to bring will be:
- an extra battery and/or the charger for your cordless drill (without these, you'll be done when your drill battery dies)
- a standard size Robertson drill bit (square head).
- a level
-please put your full name on any tools you bring, to avoid confusion, and so that I can return items to you if they are accidentally left behind -
I will provide instructions to the volunteers at 9am, but please feel free to come and join us when you can, for as long or little as you wish.
We look forward to seeing you there!
