1) Reminder -  Memory Tree Celebrations - Dec 1/13 from 3 - 4:30pm

WHAT: Williams Lake Hospice Society Memory Tree Celebration to commemorate and celebrate those we have loved and lost

WHEN: Sunday, December 1st, 3pm-4:30pm

WHERE: City of Williams Lake chambers and lobby

HOW: donate in memory of a lost loved one, and commemorate them with an ornament on our Memory Tree. Donations and ornaments available through the WL Hospice Society main office (9am-12pm m-f), or in front of Save On Foods from 10am-6pm, November 18th-30th.

2) Third Annual - Earth Friendly Holiday event - Nov 29 & 30th

Join in this free family event held at the Central Cariboo Arts & Culture Society (the old Firehall next to the City) on Friday Nov 29 from  6 - 9 pm, and on Saturday Nov 30th from 11 am - 2 pm  to make natural wreaths and swgas, bark art, birch bark critter houses, pine cone angels, ornaments made from recycled materials, bird feeders, clay ornaments, pressed cards and music. Bring bits of nature (dried flowers etc.) or just your enthusiasm!

3) CTC’s Positive Action Word of the Week

4) Reminder - Event Hosting Grant Deadline - Nov 30th

The purpose of the Event Hosting Grant is to provide the stimulus and seed money to assist local non-profit organizations to bid, host, develop, grow, market and administer new events in the City of Williams Lake.

A little information about the grant, contact information as well as links to the application and the Event Hosting Policy are available on their website. 5) Williams Lake Wanderers Group - December Activities

This group has been formed for people of all ages to engage in activities that provide physical health and appreciation of the natural world. We support a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere where one can seek physical fitness at a pace suitable to the individual. We welcome new members at any time.

Membership: There is an annual fee of  $10 person.  A membership card will be issued. Group activity information will be sent to members via email, posted at the Cariboo Memorial Complex and on Facebook,  as well as on the activewilliamslake.com site.

December  Group Activities

For all activities: Meet at the front door of Cariboo Memorial Complex for carpooling and a prompt departure at 9:30 am. Most activities are just out of town and require most of the morning. Each activity will have a leader. All fitness levels are welcome. Activities will not proceed if the weather is really inclement. The schedule is subject to last minute changes due to weather conditions, so check email/Facebook regularly.

7) Literacy Photo Contest - Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy (CCPL)

Take your best shot and win valuable prizes (digital photo or film). Guidelines: 1) All photos must represent people (any age) involved with reading or writing activities, 2) Photo info must include names of people in the photo, 3) One winner from each category (adult - taken by someone 18+ years, child - taken by up to age 17, and random draw from all entries). 4) All photos will be posted in the CCPL website at www.caribooliteracy.com, 5) Prizes will be awarded by CCPL and published in the 100 Mile House Free Press.

8) Central Cariboo Arts & Culture Society's - Fall Newsletter

2014 CCACS Project Grants:

Project grants are available for non-profit organizations or community groups in Williams Lake and the Central Cariboo (CRD Areas D, E, and F) to support and develop arts and culture within this region. The funding for these grants is courtesy of the City of Williams Lake and the Cariboo Regional District (Central Cariboo Arts & Culture function), subject to the availability of funds.

Project Grants of between $300 and $2,000 are available for projects which:
a) Are new or build creatively on previous work, b) Are likely to increase participation in arts & culture, c) Take place within the Central Cariboo region (Williams Lake and/or CRD Areas D, E, and F) and d) Will be completed by December 31, 2014

Grant Writing Workshop - Jan 8th, 2014, 6pm – 8pm, at the Central Cariboo Arts Centre with Instructor: Graham Kelsey

This is a free workshop – Register by January 6^th with the CCACS at 778-412-9044 or info@centralcaribooarts.com

The workshop will introduce commonly made pitfalls in grant applications (e.g. budgeting, project description, etc). It will be focused on the CCACS Project Grant application.

9) Pet Photos with Santa - Nov 30th

Support your local SPCA this weekend. From 9 am - 3 pm at the Williams Lake Veterinary Hospital (306 North Broadway - back door). $15 for one 5x7 photo - professional photography donated by About Face Photography.

10) New Free Playgroup - Nesika & Chilcotin Road Schools

New, fun & free this weekly playgroup for parents/caregivers to attend with their children (ages 0 - 5) from 10 - 11:30 am on Wednesday's at Nesika or from 10 - 11:30 am on Thursdays at Chilcotin Road (no preregistration required). Call the schools or 250-398-3839 for more information.
