Book Sale - Nov 7 - 15th
From Nov 7 - 15th visit
the upper level of Boitanio Mall for the Giant Used Book Sale by donation.
Donations are greatly
appreciated (collection bins located at Safeway, SaveOnFoods, Canadian Tire,
Boitanio Mall (main entrance), 150 Mile House Centre or call 250-392-4498 for
pick-up. All proceeds will be used to support Rotary and it's Community
Projects.
4) Library Special Event - Ookpik & the Animals -
puppet show with music Nov 13th
Ookpik & the Animals - a
storytime with puppets and music is on Thursday Nov 13th at 2:30 pm in the
Library Program Room in Williams Lake. All ages welcome.
There will be reading, poems,
singing songs, making a craft and having a good time. Featuring puppet
rendition by Dennis Lee, puppetry by Claire Schreiner and music by LeRae
Haynes.

9) 1st Step Program Mobile Treatment Centre - in
Williams Lake from Nov 24 - 28th
The 1st Step Mobile
Treatment Program is for persons aged 13 - 24 who are experiencing difficulties
surrounding substance misuse. The program is based on harm reduction approach
by meeting the youth where they are at in their readiness for change. The
program is both community and youth driven.
The 1st Step Program
includes: alcohol & drug education, feeling and emotions group work,
relapse prevention, anger management and critical thinking, family issues,
nutrition, exercise & recreation, sexual health, individual counselling, 12
step meetings and spiritual and cultural teachings.

10) Salvation Army Christmas Hamper & toy
registration - Nov 17 - 21st
The Salvation Army's
hamper & toy registrations take place from 1 - 4pm, Mon - Fri in the Dining
room from Nov 17 - 21st. One final registration takes place from 1 - 4pm on
Thursday Nov 27th.
Hampers and Toys will be
distributed on Friday Dec 19th at the Church sanctuary at 267 Borland from 10am
- 4pm. Hampers will be distributed to clients whose applications have been approved,
have identification, a hamper registration card and be there in person to

The Free Store is being
held on Saturday Nov 15th from 10am 2pm
at the First Baptist Church at 295 Western Ave (at the top of Carson Drive,
beside the Coast Fraser Inn).

and usable 1) winter Clothes, 2) blankets and/or 3) toys, please drop them off
at the Church on Saturday Nov 7th from 4-6pm, or Saturday Nov 8th from 10am -
2pm. Only winter clothes, blankets and toys are needed.

13) Free Tumble & Play pre-school program Saturdays from 10 -
11:30 am
Sponsored by
Success by Six, this program is free to participants. This active parent &
tot playtime offers children (ages 9 months to five years) and
parents an opportunity to bounce, catch, slide, play, race and tumble with other
children (adult participation is required). A variety of sport equipment,
ride-on toys and tumbling mats will be available. For more information contact

This program
runs from Nov 22* - Feb 28th in the Cataline School Gym (*excluding the one day
on Nov 22nd which will take place at the Nesika
School Gym).
14) Williams Lake Wanderers
- schedule of events for November 2014
We are planning to be hiking/walking each day until we have
enough snow to extend the activities to snowshoeing and cross country skiing as
well.
We will leave the Sam Ketcham Complex at 10:45 am, so come around 10:30 am to get organized. We always begin our outings from there
on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, so you can fill out a membership form
and pay your $10 annual fee if you wish to become a member. Once you're a
member, you will receive emails with schedule and schedule changes. Schedules
and updates are also on Facebook.

The Central Cariboo Arts &
Culture Society would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has
put their name forward for the upcoming elections in our area, and your
willingness to serve our community. We are also very grateful to those who are
currently serving and who have displayed their support of the arts and culture
community and the Arts and Culture Function.
The Central Cariboo Arts and Culture
Society has been working hand-in-hand with the Cariboo Regional District and
City of Williams Lake since 2010 to ensure accountable and transparent delivery
of the Central Cariboo's Arts and Culture Function, established in 2009. The
CCACS has a mandate not only to administer this function, but also to serve the
many existing independent cultural organizations and events and to facilitate
the development of arts and culture in the central part of the region. We take
seriously the notion of assisting the development of the arts—not simply
supporting the status quo—and one important means of doing that is our
administration of an annual small project grants program which in four years
has seen a number of innovative ideas bear fruit. We oversee the annual
Performances in the Park concert series, and we have developed the Central
Cariboo Art Route, a year-round, self-guided studio tour of the region.
In a related initiative, the City of
Williams Lake, together with the Regional District, redeveloped its old fire
hall to become the Central Cariboo Arts Centre in the city’s downtown. We
manage this facility which provides studio space to three tenant groups
(Williams Lake Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists’ Guild, the Cariboo Potters’
Guild and the Cariboo Art Society), as well as studio and meeting spaces for
the broader arts community. Building use has increased markedly since its
opening and we now host a rich variety of activities and events and are
delighted to see frequent “drop-ins” from passersby.

family and friends.
